Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Marshalltown

Nice hotel, rooms comfortable, super breakfeast. Front desk staff not very friendly at First, but polite and efficient. I highly recommend this hotel.

Our room was nice with three exceptions, one the of the bedside lamps didn’t work. We tried a different light bulb and the desk clerk looked at it too. She was going to tell maintenance. There was a hair on the tub and the shampoo was nearly gone. Luckily I had a small bottle I brought from home. We enjoyed the dining area when we arrived that night. The breakfast was good.

The service and staff were absolutely wonderful. The breakfast bar each money was well cared for and a staff member was checking often for refills or needs to the area. The eggs and meat selection changed day to day which was nice as well. The fresh coffee that was out 24/7 was actually very tasty. The only reason for a 9/10 is that the bathroom in our King suite was tiny and looked old. Additionally we used the pool and it could use vacuumed and the hot tub had been drained but wasn't closed off, making a hazardous situation for those with children. We will likely stay here the next time we visit Marshalltown. The staff was very attentive and friendly.

I'm giving 4 stars with a caveat as there's a couple things that need addressing right away which would bring the stars to 5. It's a very loud hotel. The furnishings are nice and the bed and couch are very comfortable. The gym is excellent. There's a peloton bike and free weights. It's spacious and roomy enough for me to do my floor exercises and the pool is heated and there's coffee, hot chocolate , cookies available all night and all day with tea. Breakfast is a typical. The front desk staff every single one has been super professional and attentive. Drum roll...one of my favorite things is the snack store. They have everything from frozen meals to ice cream, snacks nuts A large variety of chips sweets savories there's frozen pasta, lots of types of water, even sparkling water and toiletries. It is so well stocked and contains some local specialities.. I just really love the snack bar. Finally, I am really requesting this and I'm sure other people have mentioned it. The doors slam really hard and really loud. So when you have a kids sports teams coming through the hotel or people partying you will hear those doors slamming all night late into the night in the morning. Please fix the doors and put in a little bit more soundproofing on the doors too. That's about it.

We stayed last night as a stop on the way to Wisconsin. At around 4:15 am we were woken up by loud pounding on the door across the hall. Looking out the peep hole to see what was going on, it was two women trying to get in. This continued on and off for over 30 mins. I attempted to call the front desk and got no answer. Eventually the door was opened and then the loud arguing started. Tried calling the front desk again, no answer. Sometime after 5 am it was finally quiet. When we were checking out, I mentioned that I almost called the police. The front desk people said "they were here, sorry about the noise" the police were never on the 4th floor where all of this happened. I should have asked for a refund or discount, but I was too groggy and needed to get on the road.

Rooms were clean, but the shades were not functional, the room microwave did not work and the alarm clock had something wrong with it. Staff was friendly, helpful, and available. Breakfast was good, enough choices for everyone to enjoy. Pool was clean, but the hot tub was out of order. Evening coffee was cold.

This was a nice Hampton Inn. The facilities were clean and check in was friendly. Breakfast in the morning seemed hot and fresh for being buffet and not many people around since it was later.

Everything was great at the Hampton. Especially the breakfast was the most amazing than most every other Inn I’ve ever stayed in. I do have 2 complaints. One was they were having a problem with the hot water and I took a Luke warm shower. Second was the room next to mine had their TV blasting. I tried to call the front desk a few times. No answer. I finally took my boots and banged on the wall and yelled please turn it down. They did lower the volume enough for me to fall asleep. I found out in the morning that the front desk person also does laundry down the hall from the desk and perhaps was the reason I never got a response. Although I did leave a message.
